Consider Generic Drugs

One way to get more value from your healthcare plan is to use generic drugs when they are available. Ask your physician to prescribe generic drugs when possible. Generic drugs cost a fraction of the price of brand name drugs and are therapeutically equivalent to brand name drugs.

Access UnitedHealthcare’s website at myuhc.com to see if generic medications are available and check the cost of a medication at your local pharmacies.

Mail-Order Pharmacies

You may be able to save money by filling maintenance (on-going) prescriptions through the convenient mail-order program. Visit myuhc.com for information.
